About us
Welcome to SalsaFleet. Our goal is to provide quality salsa dance teaching in a relaxed friendly atmosphere that encourages beginner salsa dancers to socialise, make friends and ask people to dance.

Attending a salsa class is only the first part of the evening. We want you to take what you've learnt onto the dance floor.

By the end of your classes, we want you to feel confident and comfortable enough to social salsa dance with the other people from your class.

Part of the evening is dedicated to social dancing. We'll encourage you to get up and try, and it really is the best way to improve your dancing!

MEET THE TEACHERS

Jim Costello

Jim has 10 years of salsa dancing experience, he has trained in Cuba, New York, and Spain, has been involved in several dance companies (Manahattan Mambo, Salsa Diva Dance Co.) and to broaden his understanding of dance has also trained in several other dance forms (Tap, Ballet, Contemporary, Tango). He has performed on Television and in 2002 he came third in the professional category of the Scalatina championships. In 2007 Jim formed Ignite Dance Company with fellow salsa dancers Giles and Rosa from Oxford. Their first choreography (Bendita) has been show cased at congresses and party nights across Europe and in the UK, and has been well received by promoters and salseros. Jim has a relaxed informal teaching style that takes note of the progression of the students, altering routines to suit the students level when required. The attention to detail with a touch of humour has made him popular teacher.

Susan Yeates

Susan began salsa dancing in 2006 and has been dancing regularly in clubs across Wiltshire, Surrey and Hampshire ever since. More recently Susan joined Salsa Diversion Dance Company and has been teaching salsa for Just Dance Salsa in Southampton and Keen Dance in Salisbury as well as here in Fleet. Susan believes that.. "the benefits of salsa classes are endless… including developing a skill, improved memory, increased co-ordination, balance and posture, not to mention the social side – getting out and about, meeting people out of your usual social sphere and making some truly good friends. Salsa (when danced well) is also an incredibly beautiful, sexy and captivating dance to watch. There is something very enjoyable about just sitting back (slightly breathless after a good old dance yourself) and watching a couple interact on the dance floor, enjoying the music and the moment and dancing salsa with style! And we haven’t even started on the shoes…" Susan has endless enthusiasm for dancing salsa and passing her skills to those new to it. She will see you on the dance floor soon!
